Houghton Lake, day four

Happy Fourth of July!  Today marks Independence Day as well as our dog Abbey's 11th birthday!  We celebrated with bike riding, swinging, playtime at the park, a boat ride, swimming, and lots of good food!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



Houghton Lake, days two and three

It has been a fun couple of days in Houghton Lake!  Yesterday the kids helped make meatloaf for dinner.

And Liam has spent as much time as possible attempting to climb the stairs.

Caleb was thrilled to help the guys unpack the moving truck today!

And Liam enjoyed an Oreo for dessert tonight!

So far it has been a great week!



Houghton Lake, day one

We love vacationing up north in Houghton Lake and this week is the perfect time.  Not only is it the Fourth of July, but our contractor is installing our new kitchen cabinets while we are away.  Dan asked that I keep pictures of the progress of our kitchen secret until the whole project is complete.  But, I will give you a sneak peek at the "before" pictures from when we left this morning.

We sold all of our appliances on Craigslist so our kitchen is looking rather empty!

 

We had a fairly uneventful drive up and, as you can see, the kids are already finding ways to have fun!



Perfect summer night

Tonight we spent some time with friends enjoying the perfect summer night!  The kids played, we ate delicious food, and the adults enjoyed spending time together!

 

 I think I have a new favorite picture of Liam! 

 



School playground

Lillian's school holds open hours once a week for students to pick out new books from the Just Right Library.  Tonight we went and, of course, spent some time playing on the playground afterward.  Aren't these boys sweet?

 

 



Backyard help

We spent some time in the backyard pulling weeds this morning.  Isn't Lillian a cute little worker?

Caleb needed a break after all of that yard work!



Entertainers

The kids spent more time today enjoying the slide and kiddie pool.

 

 

Dan and I are excited to see some growth on the apple trees we planted last summer!

Lillian and Caleb gave us a superb musical performance!  Don't you love the outfits they put together?!

 Liam didn't want to be left out!



Summer fun

I am so thankful for these beautiful children (and wonderful husband) and the simple joy of a slide and kiddie pool on a summer day!

 

 

 

 

 



Change in plans

Tonight we planned to take the kids to a fun event at a big church in the area.  We pulled in the parking lot, saw how full it was, and turned around and went to a park instead.  The kids still had a great time!

 

 



Paul's party

We spent the afternoon at my parents' house with some of my siblings, nieces, and nephews celebrating our nephew Paul's birthday.  The cousins always love spending time together, especially when cupcakes, presents, and a bounce house are involved!
