After a fabulous weekend today it was time to say goodbye to Dan's parents and the lake house.  What a fantastic weekend getaway!

Today was another chilly but beautiful day!

Memorial Day weekend, part one

The last several weeks since spring break have been extremely busy.  This weekend was a wonderful break from work and grad school pressures.  The weather was a bit chilly but we had such a great time together as a family! Today we spent time at the craft fair...

The new cottage does not have grass yet, which the kids loved!  They had a blast playing in the sand!

So far this weekend has been exactly the break we needed!

After a great morning at church, our afternoon consisted of gardening, airplane flying, bike riding, tree climbing, and all out wonderfulness!  Thank you God for great kids and a beautiful day!

 

 

 

 

Party time!

This morning Dan's mom arrived early and we had a lovely brunch together at DeBoer Bakkerij.  Their food has yet to disappoint!

 

 

Afterward we went back to the house, let the boys nap, and then it was time for the Tinkerbell party to begin!  We started with treasure hunt with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell flair.

 

The pirates and fairies even had to walk the plank and face the crocodile!

 The crocodile was sad because he didn't catch anyone.

He got over his sadness quickly, however, when the treasure was found and when it was time for cake and ice cream!

Lillian Joy, you are sweet, caring, funny, and thoughtful and we love you very much!  Happy 6th birthday!

Field day and dessert

Today was Lillian's first field day at school!  I took my final personal day of the year so I could attend a special lunch with her at school. 

It ended up being a chilly day but she had a lot of fun!

We told Lillian she could choose a special meal or a restaurant to eat at in honor of her birthday.  She opted for dessert at Kilwin's downtown.  It was a yummy outing!

This is riveting journalism, isn't it?  Okay, maybe not.  But the trees are pretty and the kids are cute!

Happy Birthday, Lillian!

Today is our sweet Lillian Joy's sixth birthday.  Tonight is my final performance of the year.  Many kids might be upset about this combination.  But, not our Lillian.  She is most often a "look on the bright side of things" kind of gal.  When I made the realization a few months ago that I would be directing a musical on Lillian's birthday I immediately tried to performance move dates around.  Unfortunately, there was no budging.  It is my own fault.  I approved my performance dates last spring.  But, I'm blaming my oversight on the fact that I was on maternity leave at the time with "new mom brain."  At any rate, Lillian said she was actually excited to go to my musical on her special day.  That's our girl.  She is a real sweetie!

Mother's Day

Dan and the kids made Mother's Day a special day for me.  The boys even wore their ties for the occasion (along with some dress up clothes in these shots)!
